10+ Spring Self Care Ideas for the Best Self Care Ritual
Looking to create the best spring self care ritual? I’ve got you! Follow these spring self care tips to build a healthy, feel-good routine for better mental health and happiness.
1. Fill your home with flowers
Spring self care ideas can involve your environment just as well as your mind! How we keep our environment is an important contributor to our mental health. If you fill your environment with visually pleasant items, you’ll feel good when you’re in your space.
So why not fill your home with some gorgeous spring flowers? I know flowers instantly put a smile on my face and make me feel refreshed and soooo ready to embrace the spring season.
The best spring flowers include:
- Tulips
- Daffodils
- Forget-me-nots
- Lilacs
- Lilies
- Pansies
2. Get some fresh air
Whether this means sitting on your patio/deck or taking a walk in your neighborhood, get some fresh air! This is one of the easiest spring self care ideas to implement.
Where I live, the spring weather has been a little hit or miss (we have those painful 40 degree days with the occasional blessing of 70 degrees), but I make sure to take advantage of every warm day!
On warm days, I go out of my way to take at least a 10 minute walk around the block. If you struggle with the motivation to do so, I’ll let you know that I’ve never ended a walk wishing I hadn’t taken it! I always feel a million times better after.

3. Spring clean your home
Once again, your environment is super important for your mental health! Having a lot of visual clutter leads to having a lot of mental clutter. If you’re physically overwhelmed by a mess, chances are you’re going to feel mentally overwhelmed too.
So take the time (whether it be in short 15 minute bursts each evening, or dedicating the whole weekend to it!) to spring clean your home. You can take this room by room. Consider deep-cleaning the things you never think about. Perhaps wiping down the inside of drawers, organizing your closet, and dusting those hard-to-reach places.
4. Spring clean your phone, computer, and social media
Here’s where the real clutter in our lives is often found: our electronic devices! You probably have a ton of photos and files you don’t really need sitting in your phone/computer and taking up space. Take a day to sort through them all, back them up, and free your mind!
Another must when it comes to this is to clean up your social media! Consider this: how have you been feeling lately while scrolling through your social feeds? Do you find yourself falling into the social comparison trap? If so, evaluate the content you consume and unfollow accordingly.
All it takes is a little “unfollow” or hitting the “I’m not interested” button on Tik Tok to feel leaps and bounds better about your time spent on the internet. This is one of the most freeing spring self care ideas.

5. Use a guided journal to reach your self care goals
If you struggle to journal because you’re always caught by what I like to call the “blank page freeze,” then guided journaling is your best friend! Blank journals can leave you unstructured and lost, but guided journals can help you reap better journaling benefits.
There are SO many guided journals out there. They are great for working toward a specific self-care goal, like working on your mental health. Lucky for you, I’ve got just the thing!
My printable mental health journal is the all-in-one tool for managing your mental health. From making sense of your complex emotions, to reframing negative thought loops, to overcoming unhelpful behaviors that hold you back…this journal is everything and more! Grab it below!

7. Try out new movement
Dance, yoga, tai chi, HIIT, strength building videos on YouTube….whatever you haven’t tried yet, give it a go! The endorphins that get released during pretty much any type of physical activity are so valuable.
I can be feeling anxious, on edge, and overthinking my whole life…but then I set aside the time to get through a workout and a lot of my physical anxiety symptoms seem to lighten. It’s kinda crazy! But it really helps.
8. Create a vision board of new seasonal goals
New season, new goals! Think about what you want to add into your life this spring. What would help you feel better? What would propel you along in your mental health journey? Or even…what puts a smile on your face?
Once you’ve thought about all that, see what pictures you can find on Pinterest or Google that depict these goals! You can create a digital vision board and set it as your computer background, or print the photos out and make a real-life collage.
I have a post on all sorts of vision board ideas for adults to guide you in creating your own vision board for the ultimate spring self care!
9. Do a spring reset
The best way to be fully refreshed is to do a FULL spring reset! Think swapping the winter clothes in your dresser for spring clothes. Taking down the winter decor and replacing it with spring decor. You get the idea!
Transitioning your environment, your head space, and your habits from winter vibes to spring vibes is a great way to feel on top of things! You’ll feel super accomplished and ready to embrace the new months ahead.
10. Get some new spring scents for your home
Winter candy apple and cranberry scents have had their glory days. Complete the transition into spring with some soothing, refreshing spring scents!
I love relaxing scents that help me wind down in the evening like lavender, and invigorating scents like lemon and mandarin during the day to help me feel energized and positive!

11. Go for picnics and more meals outside
When’s the last time you had a proper picnic complete with homemade sandwiches, snacks, and drinks on a nice picnic blanket?! This is easily my favorite spring activity because it offers a mix of fresh air, yummy food, and peacefulness.
Having a picnic or even just a simple meal outside is a great mood booster and just the perfect spring self care idea. It helps to get you out of your typical routine and out of the house!
Why is Spring Self Care so Important?
Self care is all about taking time to do things that support your mental and physical health. With longer days and warmer weather, our schedules tend to get a little busier once the spring season hits. With that added hustle and bustle, it’s going to be extra important to schedule that self care into your calendar!
No matter how busy you get, even just taking 30 minutes out of your week for self care can make a major difference on your mood and quality of life. Make sure to take a step back, smell the roses, and take care this spring!

I love that there’s so much we can do to de-stress, and even better is that a lot of it is fairly simple! Walking, resetting, and decluttering are all great things.
I never thought about doing a seasonal vision board! That is such a great idea to stay motivated! Really love all of these ideas, I had to get outside yesterday just to take a breather and feel the air flow through me. Thanks for some great ideas!
Right?! I’m used to doing vision boards for the new year, but if you have quarterly goals or new things happening in each season, it totally makes sense!
Didn’t know April was the awareness month for stress, definitely been feeling stressed and it’s great to bring attention to it so we can actually pause and reflect. Love these tips, thank you for these and explaining how to approach self care. I’ll be trying the vision board, seems like a great tool to stay connected to our goals.
Vision boards are fantastic for getting a visual representation of our goals! I actually didn’t know April was stress awareness month until this year, so it was news to me too! But it’s a great opportunity for taking a moment to evaluate our stress levels and respond to them accordingly.
These are amazing tips for self-care. I love the idea of cleaning the phone out, and going for picnics. The app also sounds amazing! Have to check that out. Thanks for sharing!
