Setting the Stage: New Month, New Goals for November
Time for a fresh start, a clean state, and an opportunity to crush new goals!
November is a particularly important month to set monthly goals because of the upcoming holidays. You know how busy life gets the closer we get to Christmas, so use your November goals to better prepare yourself!
Not only that, but we are closing in real quick to the end of the year. Can you remember your New Year’s resolutions? If those resolutions still apply to you, but you’ve lost sight of them, now is a good time to see what you can crank out before the year is up.
And honestly, breaking big year-long goals into monthly goals can make them far more achievable. You are so much better off building small, realistic monthly goals. Because you can envision them in the short-term, you’re going to be a thousand times more motivated to accomplish them!
So with all that in mind, let’s check out some good goals for November to make it your best month of the year!
My Personal Goals for November 2023
Just in case you’re nosy, (and actually, hearing real-life examples of other people’s goals is super helpful anyway) here’s some of my own good goals for November.
1. Eliminate the distraction of constantly checking stats
As a blogger, I’m always striving for more pageviews. Especially because I’ve got my eye set on getting into Mediavine ads, which only accepts blogs with at least 50,000 monthly views.
Problem is, I’ve noticed I’ve been pretty much obsessed with achieving this goal…to an unhelpful degree.
I spend WAY too much time checking stats of all sorts. Every single day (which is way more frequent than necessary) I am at least checking yesterday’s pageviews, yesterday’s product revenue, yesterday’s ad revenue…and sometimes even taking it a step further.
I might find myself distracted down a rabbit hole of “no no no, I’ve GOT to get to the bottom of why this blog post is suddenly getting less traffic!!” sigh 😮💨 All of this takes valuable time away from, uh, actually doing the things that would help my metrics in the first place!
So my ultimate goal for November is to cut these distractions out ASAP. I’m making a rule for myself that stats are only to be checked once a week. We’ll see if I break this pesky habit.
2. Stick to my good morning habits that set me up for the day
This is the one of those November goals I desperately need.
Some days, I’m so on top of my routines–including getting out of bed within 15 minutes of waking up, doing a 5 minute meditation, and simply being intentional with my mornings. This is how the start of the week goes.
But sure enough, by around Wednesday or Thursday…it’s like I just cannot.
It’s honestly almost like a block where my mind will not integrate with the world around me to get me going and on track. So I find myself laying in bed for far too long, feeling like I already wasted too much time to “earn” the “privilege” of self care activities. And it’s just not a good mental space to be in! My goal is to be more consistent in having intentional mornings.
3. Give myself time to actually shut off, no matter what
It is SO hard, as someone with ADHD, to feel like I can allow myself to shut off after a rough, unfocused day with procrastination sprinkled throughout. Again arises the cognitive distortion of not feeling like I’ve “earned” relaxation time!
But I need to remember that the more I forbid myself from having a work-life balance just because I “didn’t get enough done,” the more I continue the cycle.
If your brain is begging for a break and you refuse, your brain will inevitably find ways to “gain back” that missed break time. Usually in the form of procrastination.
I realize that if I just give myself balance, if I just honor dedicated rest times, I probably won’t struggle so much with procrastination to begin with.
So those are my November goals! They may or may not apply to your life, and that’s no problem. That’s exactly why I’ve got 11 motivating goals for November coming right up–and these are perfect for any planner!
Pro tip: If you’re juggling a ton of tasks, struggling to keep your life organized, AND trying to stay on track with your goals…don’t try to manage your schedule by yourself!
You need to make sure you’re optimizing your time in the best way possible. But what even is “the best way possible”?
Well, you don’t need to waste time figuring that out when the Motion app can literally do it for you.
If you’re sick of feeling like there just aren’t enough hours in the day, Motion can fix that by:
- Automated scheduling that plans your day for you – this app knows exactly how to schedule your daily tasks FOR YOU, in a way that’s most productive for you and your lifestyle.
- Handling emergencies – Motion rearranges everything automatically so that urgent pop-up tasks don’t screw up your day…or your sanity!

Motion is the game-changer your schedule has been begging for, so why not give it a shot and lighten your load?

Good Goals for November
1. Start a fall morning routine you’re actually excited about
Your morning should be your me-time, and I’ve learned the hard way that I won’t set myself up for a good day if I neglect this time with myself. I know how tempting it is to lay in bed until the last possible minute, but it never feels good in the end!
And hey, since it’s still fall, now’s your chance to make the picture-perfect cozy fall morning routine if you haven’t tried it yet!
Make your mornings slow and luxurious: complete with a soothing cup of tea, morning reflection in a journal, or anything that gives you that precious moment of peace to start your day feeling good.

2. Get your closet fall-ready
I don’t know about you, but I always procrastinate on the seasonal swapping of my summer clothes for fall/winter clothes. Depending on how many clothes you have, it can be a pretty time consuming task for sure. BUT, it’s another one of those things that feels fantastic once the job is done.
Take a day (on a weekend or your day off is ideal!) to fold and store your summer clothes away for next year, making room for your cozier stuff.
Another good idea is to take note of which clothing items you may be missing from your wardrobe, or if anything needs replacing. This helps you evaluate your fall wardrobe and assess if it’s time to do some seasonal shopping.
3. Start meal prepping
If this is already in your weekly routine, great! But for those of us who haven’t worked up the energy to get on the meal prepping train, this makes for an amazingly time-saving November goal!
Although it’s a lot of work upfront, everyone I know who meal preps says it is so worth it to not even have to think about cooking during the week.
You take the decision fatigue out of the equation this way! You’re also less likely to give into random cravings when you’ve got a plan in place and food ready to go.
4. Host a virtual friendsgiving
You know how hard it can be to make sure all your friends have an open spot in their schedule. So why not make it easy? Host a virtual Friendsgiving instead!
Get your friends together for a bountiful online Friendsgiving dinner. Go ahead and fire off those group texts, set a date, and maybe throw in a goofy turkey emoji while you’re at it.
5. Set up a relaxation nook in your home
This is one of the best November goals to cozy-up your environment!
Create a cozy corner of heaven where you can escape and unwind. This can include anything that soothes you. I’m talking comfy cushions, your fave plush blanket, string up some fairy lights, and maybe add a plant or two for extra Zen vibes.
Basically, make this a spot you’ll want to come back to every time you need to recharge from the stress of your day!

6. Start a daily photo diary to look back at
Snap one pic each day this month. It can be a picture of something that made you laugh, a good hair day, a fun moment with your bestie…anything that captures the little treasures you stumble upon in November!
It can be hard to remember to take a picture everyday though, so be sure to set a daily phone reminder (almost like a BeReal notification!) to stay on top of your photo diary.

Step away from your day-to-day norm, immerse yourself in a forest, and feel totally and utterly zen. Schedule a couple free dates throughout the month that you can make your nature days!
10. Create an end of the year vision board
If you think about vision boards, you probably tie them in with new year’s and all the goal setting you may do for the year ahead. But who says you can’t do the same as the year wraps up? In fact, that’s a great way to get caught up on what you forgot about earlier this year!

November Goal Setting Tips
Make this month YOUR month to thrive! If you find yourself falling into the habit of setting goals only to forget about them by the end of the month, try these strategies to put a stop to that.
Things to Do When Setting Goals for a New Month
- Mix fun into your goals – Who said setting goals can’t be fun? When you’re brainstorming your November goals, blend them with things you genuinely enjoy. Let’s say your goal is to exercise 3 times a week. How about finding some fun, upbeat dance workouts on YouTube? Combining work and play makes the journey more exciting, and trust me, you’ll be much more likely to stick to it.
- Do a weekly journal check-in – and when I say this, I’m serious. That means pulling out your planner right now and scheduling journal reflection time once a week for your November goals! Not only will this hold you accountable, but you can reassess your priorities and adjust your goals accordingly if you find that something isn’t realistic right now.
- Team up with an accountability buddy – got ambitious friends who also love pursuing their goals? Make November goal setting a team effort! This is another opportunity for weekly check-ins, where you can share your progress with each other.
- Always celebrate the small wins! – don’t overlook these! Acknowledging your little victories will give you the sense of accomplishment you need to keep chuggin’ along.
