Have you heard about manifestation? Did you know that you can manifest aaaanything you want just by writing it down?!
The crazy part is: this is something you may already do without realizing it. Simply writing down your goals is a powerful practice that increases your likelihood of achieving a goal.
Manifestation isn’t much different than that. The only difference is that it takes goal writing a step further by visualizing and fully immersing yourself in what you want to achieve. Learning how to manifest writing down your goals is a must. If you get clear on every little detail that goes into what you want, you may just attract it and make it happen.
While the idea is to essentially write something into existence, the practice of manifestation also has a major benefit on your mindset. Manifesting something enforces a positive mindset and belief in yourself and your abilities!
So, ya ready to learn how to manifest by writing down your goals? Let’s chase those dreams with these easy writing manifestation methods!
This post is all about how to manifest something by writing it down.
What is manifestation?
Manifestation is a visualization strategy for bringing a goal into action. This is done by focusing your thoughts on the desired outcome by visualizing the details of what the accomplished goal would look like.
It’s the process of pushing your goals to “manifest” into your life and into your reality.
Positive people tend to attract more opportunities and seem to be able to manifest what they set their minds to. This goes to show that manifestation is very much a matter of mindset.
If you’ve heard of the law of attraction, this is the gist of that! The practice of a positive mindset and positive visualization is powerful in guiding you closer to your goals, dreams, and aspirations.
There is no right or wrong way to manifest. The best way to manifest is to follow what feels right and aligns with your beliefs.
Can you manifest things by writing them down?
You betcha! Writing down your goals and aspirations is the best way to manifest them.
This study shows that people who wrote down their goals were more likely to achieve them than those who only verbalized their goals. This makes sense because writing down your goals creates a commitment to those goals.
Writing down your goals, and especially in detail when manifesting, is a great way to keep those goals at the forefront of your mind and truly envision what it will take to achieve the goal! Taking the time to learn how to manifest writing down your goals shows you are serious about them.
Does manifesting actually work?!
I just knew you’d be curious about this one! While it’s not exactly hard science, I absolutely think it has potential. Whether that be due to the universe or due to your own focus and intention is up for debate!
In my personal experience, there have been things I’ve manifested that ended up happening in my life. So I say give it a shot! You don’t lose anything by trying and at the very least, you will have a strengthened belief in yourself and a positive mindset. You only have room for gain here!

If you’re wondering how to start writing manifestations, you’re in the right place! These easy writing manifestation methods are everything you need to chase those goals. You’ll find manifestation examples that will help you manifest whatever you desire, whether that’s success, love, a new job, goals…anything!
How do you write down a manifestation?
1. Choose a journal
I highly highly HIGHLY recommend dedicating a journal specifically to manifesting only. Not only does this keep your thoughts more organized, but it feels like serious business when you have a journal dedicated only to this practice and nothing else.
I just picked out a simple, plain (but cute colored!) journal from Walmart for my manifestation journal. You can grab yourself the same one below!
How I set up my journal for manifestations
Now this is the fun part! I set up each new page in my manifestation journal in the format pictured.
I make sure to include:
- A little title blurb
- The time and date
- “Dear Universe” followed by some thoughts surrounding what I’m about to manifest by writing (don’t overthink this part, it’s more of a brain dump)
- Gratitudes: where I write 3 things I’m grateful for
- Scripting: this is where the actual manifestation happens. Scripting is where you write in present tense as if the thing you want to happen has already happened. And don’t be shy on the details!
You don’t have to do it exactly like this, but I find this format helpful. I feel that expressing gratitude prior to scripting sets you up for positivity and keeps you humbled and thankful, so that the scripting part doesn’t feel like you’re demanding something, haha.

2. Identify your goal (AKA what you want to manifest)
So what exactly do you want to accomplish? Get really clear and specific here, because it will help you later when you go through the actual process of scripting.
Say your goal is to move out and get your first apartment. Think about what getting your first apartment means to you, exactly. Where do you want to be located? How many bedrooms do you want? What is your ideal price? What amenities will it have?
I also want to note that manifesting doesn’t mean wishing for something to happen but doing zero work to make it happen. It doesn’t work like that.
With getting your first apartment, you have to work to make that happen! But manifesting can help you get your ideal apartment and instill belief in yourself that you can achieve what you want!

3. Write about what you want and why you want it
Cracking down on your intentions is a good goal-setting practice to have in general. When you understand why you want something, it provides added clarity and can even reveal that there may be several options that meet your desired outcome!
Instead of “I want a nice apartment,” you can write “I live in a spacious, comfortable apartment so that I can feel safe and content in my living space.”
Manifestation Writing Methods to Choose From
Luckily, there are several easy writing manifestation methods out there! Browse through them, try them out, and pick whatever works best for you.
Affirmations
These are positive statements used to reinforce a goal and strengthen your belief in the goal. For example, “I am a calm person,” if you’re trying to manifest relief from stress and anxiety. Affirmations have the best results when practiced everyday, choosing 3-5 affirmations to focus on at a time.
The 369 Method
This is where you write down your manifestation 3 times in the morning, 6 times during the day, and 9 times before bed. Due to the frequency, you can keep your manifestation short and sweet each time you write it down.
Scripting
This method is far more detailed and can be more effective for accurately visualizing your goal. Write a script of what life will look like after you’ve achieved your manifestation, as if it has already happened, in present tense. Deep-dive into how your future self will feel, what they experience, and how their lifestyle will be.
Gratitude Journaling
You can make a list of the things you’re currently grateful for in an effort to recognize the good you currently have. In turn, this puts positive energy out into the universe, making it more likely that you’ll seek (and attract) more positive events in your life.

4. Write the manifestation in present tense
Piggybacking off of what I just mentioned, it’s important to write your manifestations in present tense as if you are writing from the perspective of living out the goal. This is the process of the manifestation method for scripting. It’s also important that you write a strong, clear statement of your goal.
How to write manifestations in present tense
For example, I have a goal of reaching 50,000 monthly page views to this very blog.
I don’t want to say “when I reach” or “if I reach” because that is future-tense, and the latter leaves room for uncertainty. Instead, a manifestation for this goal would look something like this:
“I woke up this morning and checked my Google Analytics to see that I’ve been consistently at 50,000 monthly page views for the last three months. I couldn’t be more grateful!”
Manifestation examples for success include:
- “I’m so excited for my move to Hawaii.”
- “Making six figures makes me feel so accomplished.”
- “I love my spacious 4 bedroom, 3 bathroom home.”
- “I have my anxiety under control.”
Manifestation examples for a job include:
- “Getting my promotion at work feels SO good.”
- “I am well-respected and admired at work.”
- “I am thoroughly fulfilled and content with the work I do.”
- “The work I do makes a big difference in the lives of others.”
Manifestation examples for love include:
- “I am with the right romantic partner for me.”
- “My relationship is healthy, happy, and provides joy in my life.”
- “I am a great partner, so I deserve only the best and therefore, I have the best.”
- “I am at peace knowing my relationship is stable and secure.”
Whatever it may be, you need to truly believe that this goal IS going to happen! This is one of the most crucial tips on how to manifest writing down your goals.

5. Use A LOT of detail
Detail is EVERYTHING! This will make your manifestation feel so much more real and help you envision it in realistic and practical terms. It will make the manifestation genuinely feel within your reach, which is exactly what you want. We want to make these come true, after all!
Here is a great example of detailed scripting for wanting your first apartment:
“I just went down to my NEW apartment’s leasing office to pick up my keys! I’ve waited for this moment for so long and now I’m finally here. It’s a 2BR 2BA apartment in the quiet suburbs of Naperville, just outside of Chicago. The exterior is a lovely brick and it is absolutely gorgeous!
Inside, it has vaulted ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows, and is everything I could have asked for. My parents just finished helping me move all my furniture into my new space and I’m lounging in my nice queen sized bed as I write this. All my hard work of budgeting my money and researching the perfect place has paid off.”
Do you see how I thought of everything I could possibly think of? (At least to the best of my ability, not actively living in the situation right now). Take yourself on a journey and factor everything out to the very last detail when manifesting through writing!

6. Repeat and fully immerse yourself in what you wrote
After you’ve written your manifestation masterpiece complete with allllll the juicy details, I like to repeat it to myself. Even if it’s just me reading to myself in my head, it helps to read it back over and fully digest what you’ve just written.
As you’re reading it back to yourself, immerse yourself in it! Put yourself in the shoes of this person that has achieved this great thing. Imagine what achieving this goal would really feel like, and really visualize it. After you finish reading your last sentence, you can even close your eyes and soak it in.
Now that should feel good!
How to Approach Manifesting (+ Some Common Myths!)
Hey, manifesting for beginners can be confusing! If you still don’t understand the whole thing, here are some common misconceptions that many people get wrong.
Myth #1: The bad things that happen to you are a result of your own bad energy/vibrations/attitude/etc.
Negative experiences are simply not always within our control. And more to the point, no one should be blamed for the trauma they’ve been through. If anyone tries to push this narrative on you, that is totally unacceptable.
Getting laid off from a job, being raised in poverty, getting into a drunk driving accident, experiencing prejudice…none of these are your fault. Positive thinking can help you cope with what you’ve been through, but it doesn’t erase it or fix it.
That said, manifestation can help you attract good things in the right context.
Imagine wishing you could get a raise at work, but believing so strongly that your boss will turn it down, so you avoid asking. Or, if you do ask, you are self-conscious about it and don’t present your proposal in the best way. This could jeopardize getting the raise.
But if you go into that discussion with the belief that you WILL get the raise, you come off as confident, prepared, and ready to receive the raise.
There is a time and a place for everything, but you are not to blame for negative experiences outside of your control!
Myth #2: If you aren’t positive 100% of the time, you won’t be able to manifest what you want.
Nah, that’s a load of bologna.
The human experience involves a wide range of emotions, some negative and some positive. This idea of needing to be positive 100% of the time creates the message that emotions aren’t okay to feel. This is super damaging to your mental health and just flat out wrong!
Allow yourself to feel and accept your emotions as they come without judgment. You can and should, however, make an effort to reframe persistent negative thoughts into more positive/rational ones.
Making slow but steady strides to challenge self doubt and insecurity should be the goal. Not expecting yourself to never, ever feel bad.
Myth #3: Anything you manifest will happen overnight with zero effort on your part.
Sorry to say, but this just isn’t it.
Let’s say you manifest your dream home, expecting this to happen on its own without much work on your part. Well…manifestation alone is not the only ingredient to achieving something. I know, I wish it were.
You need to do your research, scour the housing market, educate yourself on the down payment you need, determine your budget, save, save, save! And so on.
Manifestation can help you get into the right head space to believe in yourself and your ability to one day own your dream home. But your actions play a major role in the outcome, too! You can’t have one without the other.
Patience and clarity on what you’re manifesting in the first place are absolutely key. Get crystal clear on the specifics of your goals, and even the habits necessary to achieve those goals! Then, at that point, manifestation can aid in your success. Getting a clear understanding of exactly how to manifest by writing down your goals is also a must.
FAQs About How to Manifest Something by Writing it Down
How many times do you need to write something down to manifest it?
There’s no one right answer to this, but you can try following the 369 manifestation method. The process for this method is simple:
- Write down your manifestation 3 times every morning
- 6 times during the day
- 9 times in the evening
Why the significance of 369? Light worker Karin Yee was inspired by Nikola Tesla’s methodology of 3, 6, and 9 being “divine numbers.” He felt these numbers were significant in the context of the universe and physics.
(Mostly because he recognized that 360 degree circles involve 3 + 6 = 9, and that no matter how many times you divide by one, the outcome was always a 3, 6, or a 9–if you want to get technical!)
The more practical point of writing down your manifestations several times a day is that the more you do so, the more you connect with your intentions.
Keeping your intentions, goals, and ambition at the forefront of your mind throughout the day makes for a better chance at attracting and achieving what you’re trying to accomplish.
Why do we manifest?
Manifesting gives us hope for the future and supports our self-belief system. It’s empowering to believe that our thoughts and emotions have the power to shape our reality.
This is also fantastic for giving us a sense of control in a sea of situations where we otherwise don’t have any control.
Manifesting is not a replacement for being proactive and taking responsibility for the things in your life. However, manifestation can further propel you toward your goals when used in conjunction with taking action.
Maintaining a positive mindset can help you dodge the many hurdles that do keep us from reaching our goals. By manifesting, you can overcome feelings of self-doubt, fear of failure, and anxiety about the future.
Tips for manifesting through writing
Alright, now that ya get the hang of the process for how to manifest something by writing it down, here are the best tips for getting the most out of your practice.
- Be clear and leave no room for ambiguity – I can’t stress enough how important it is to be specific about what you want to attract into your life! Define your desires, goals, and intentions down to the last detail.
- Emphasize the positive – don’t phrase your manifestations in terms of what you want to avoid or eliminate. Focus on what you’d like to attract, what would add value to your life, and where you’d like to see yourself.
- Be consistent – consistency is key for achieving just about anything. Manifestation is no different. Set aside time each day or week to write down your manifestations so that you’re keeping a regular practice. You want to keep these desires and goals on the top of your mind.
- What you believe, you will achieve – write each manifestation with the utmost confidence, letting it truly sink in and impact your mindset. A little trust in the process goes a long way!
