Last Updated on August 8, 2022
Want to feel more connected to what’s going on NOW, and not 10 steps from now? These mindfulness affirmations are just the thing you need!
Ever find it really difficult to focus on what’s going on around you? Maybe you’re stressing about the busy week ahead, or you made a mistake last week that you just can’t forget about.
You end up neglecting the good that exists in the present moment, and before you know it you can’t enjoy that really delicious lunch or that super good book you’re reading! (How many times have you had to flip back a page because you were distracted?! Happens way too much!)
Whatever distractions present themselves to you on a daily basis, you might find it a huuuuge help to practice mindfulness. That is, being fully immersed in the present moment. But that can be easier said than done, so it’s better to use a tool to get you there.
The tool I present to you is mindfulness affirmations. These work to remind you exactly how you are dialed into the present moment. Mindfulness affirmations can guide you toward a state of calm and self-awareness which can be so useful in many areas and scenarios in your life.

What Is Mindfulness?
Mindfulness is all about gently bringing your attention to the present moment–away from anticipation of the future or insecurity from the past. The American Psychological Association defines mindfulness as, “moment-to-moment awareness of one’s experience without judgment. In this sense, mindfulness is a state and not a trait.”
Consider it an art of noticing. You are making a concerted effort to notice the current environment around you and your existence in relation to that environment.
This can look like grounding exercises, such as noticing 5 things you can see and 4 things you can hear. It can also look like doing a body scan to observe tension in the body and to release it accordingly. Focusing on your breathing is another common way to practice mindfulness.
What Are the Benefits of Mindfulness Affirmations?
Mindfulness affirmations are designed to really bring the act of mindfulness to your attention. By affirming, or stating, your commitment to being mindful, you are grounding yourself in the present and actively resisting distractions.
When you speak or write mindfulness affirmations, you may find yourself with:
- Reduced anxiety
- Improved mood
- Enhanced self esteem in both yourself and your capabilities
- Increased self awareness
- Retraining your brain to replace negative thoughts with positive or neutral ones
- A boost in focus and self control
Can Affirmations Get Rid of Anxiety?
Absolutely, affirmations can get rid of anxiety. Anxiety is often accompanied by feelings of self-doubt, stress, and panic, which these mindfulness affirmations aim to target.
When you practice being able to avert distractions and stay focused and grounded in what’s going on, you get better at it. Anxiety often times stems from insecurity, so strengthening your ability to be mindful shows that you can do the things you set your mind to.
It’s also just good practice for getting out of your head about the future and the things that cause anxiety in the first place!

55 Self Compassion Affirmations to Show Yourself More Kindness
I wish I would have discovered this blog post yesterday when I was so stressed out. 😂 I’m feeling better today but I still like all these affirmations. I especially like this one: “It’s okay for my mind to wander. I can just gently bring it back.” I tend to criticize myself whenever my mind wanders (which is often) so this affirmation is a lot more gentle!
I’m happy to hear you’re feeling better! It seems that our knee-jerk reaction is to get frustrated with ourselves when our mind wanders in the middle of mindfulness or anything we’re trying to focus on. But having your mind wander is perfectly normal and it happens to us all! Just give your brain a gentle little “nudge” back on the right track and all is well 😊
